Buckle up for spring

As we grow older, our skin ages with us. It loses its luster and youthful glow and the process of rejuvenation slows down. The skin starts looking dull and saggy but that does not mean you should stop taking care of your skin. You can still look striking and make your skin look flawless and healthy if you take good care of it. You might need to take a few extra steps but if the result is younger-looking fresh skin, why not?
The top three tips for women going through their later years and keen to take care of themselves are:
Always wear sunscreen.
If there is one beauty rule that every woman needs to follow, be it a middle-aged one or a 15-year-old teenager, it is to wear a decent amount of sunscreen every day. Nothing can damage your skin more than sun exposure and its harmful UV rays. It’s the primary cause of skin cancer and a major cause of wrinkles and brown spots. For women in their middle ages, a sunscreen of at least 30 SPF which blocks UVA and UVB rays is recommended.
You should wear the sunscreen rain or shine and Reapply it throughout the day. Also, don’t forget to slather some on top of your hands. Dermatologists say that a woman’s age can be guessed by looking at her hands and her neck.
Make sure to use the right type of moisturizer and cleanser
It’s supremely important to choose a skincare routine consisting of appropriate moisturizers and cleansers formulated for your skin type as you age.
As you go through middle age you might notice that the products that worked for you in your 30 have now started irritating your skin that is because of the changing skin sensitivity as you age. Choose milder products for your skin and make sure the products you are applying are compatible with your skin type.
You may also notice that as you get older, your skin becomes drier. This is because our skin suffers a slowdown in oil production and cell turnover, especially after menopause. So try to incorporate good moistures in your skincare regimen that keep your skin hydrated and wrinkle-free.
Start using Retinol
There is no miracle that can turn back time and make you look younger. But there is an ingredient that can help you maintain wrinkle-free smooth skin if incorporated into your skincare routine. This secret ingredient is vitamin A derivatives retinol and prescription-strength retinoids (i.e., Retin A). A good retinol cream every night can help you get rid of fine lines and wrinkles as penetrates deep into the layers and reach the collagen in your skin and help it renew itself by encouraging cell turnover. It is very effective in cases of acne, fine lines, and sun-damaged skin.
It is very easy to lose sight of yourself as you age due to many factors. But you can preserve the freshness of youth if you are vigilant with your skincare. Start anti-wrinkle and anti-aging treatments early in your 30s and as you age keep changing the products you use according to your skin needs and how it responds to the products you apply on it. Make moisturizing, exfoliation and sunscreen a religious part of your daily skincare routine.
